Things Your Dog is Grateful For

With Thanksgiving coming up, many people will be taking some time over the next few weeks to reflect on the things they are most grateful for. Dogs definitely rank pretty high on our list! But if you could ask Fido what he appreciates the most, what do you think he would list? A local Ellicott City, MD vet offers a few suggestions below.

Food

It’s probably not unreasonable to suspect that food and treats would be at the top of the list of things Fido is grateful for. Go ahead and share some of that delicious Thanksgiving turkey with your furry best friend! Just be sure to remove all the skin, bones, and fat first.

Toys

Fido is super playful, which is one of the reasons he’s just such a joy to have around. It’s always fun watching pups gleefully bounding around after a ball, or playing with their favorite toys! (Some dogs are also more than happy to chase after sticks, but that’s besides the point.) Your four-legged friend truly appreciates all of the playthings you give him.

Adventures

Your furry pal’s regular walks may very well be a bright point of his day. The fresh air, exercise, and change of scenery are all very good for dogs, both mentally and physically. Fido also enjoys visiting parks or trails. Man’s Best Friend loves to explore new places!

Belly Rubs

Our canine companions are always cute, but they’re never more charming than when they are begging for—or enjoying some—attention. It’s hard not to smile when you see Fido putting on that adorable doggy ‘grin’ when you rub his belly, or closing his eyes with delight when you get that itchy spot on his back.

Comfy Beds

No surprises here: comfortable mattresses are definitely one of life’s greatest luxuries. If Fido’s doggy bed has seen better days, get him a new one. This would be a great holiday gift for your four-legged friend!

You

Dogs are very affectionate, and are absolutely loyal to their human pals. Fido will show that unconditional love in many endearing ways. Your pooch may jump up to greet you when you get home, wag his tail for you, and/or shower you with cuddles and kisses.

Happy Thanksgiving! Please reach out if ever we can be of assistance. As your Ellicott City, MD veterinary clinic, we are here to help!
