Holiday Gifts For Dogs

Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Or are you one of those who waits until the last minute? No matter which of those camps you fall into, you’ll need to pick up a few things for your canine buddy. Fido definitely deserves a special gift! An Ellicott City, MD vet lists some things that are bound to get that cute tail going in this article.

Toys

Toys are very important to dogs. They keep pups occupied and active, and prevent doggy boredom. These things in turn can help curb bad behaviors, such as chewing and digging. Plus, they offer your pooch a great workout! Get Fido a variety of fun playthings. Some, such as balls, are great for playing Fetch. Puzzle toys can help keep your pet occupied while you’re out, while many plush toys can soothe and comfort him.

Treats

We all know that Man’s Best Friend is very, very enthusiastic about treats. Fido will definitely be delighted with something special. Just be sure to stick with safe options. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Pupscription Box

Does Fido go through his doggy toys so fast you can’t keep up? Why not sign him up for his own subscription box? Every month, your pet will get his own box of goodies. (We don’t have to tell you how cute this gets once dogs sort out that they’re getting mail.)

Obedience Training

Is your canine companion a bit of a handful? Does he haul you along behind him on walks, or ignore you when you call him? Obedience training may very well be the gift that keeps on giving!

Beds

Is your furry friend sleeping on a squashed bed that has seen better days? A new bed would make a wonderful gift for him! It’s very important for Fido to be able to sleep comfortably, especially as he ages. (Note: we recommend orthopedic beds for senior dogs and large breeds.)

Grooming Supplies

Doggy beauty products can make great stocking stuffers for dogs! We know, Fido may not be thrilled about getting bathed, having a pawdicure, or having his teeth brushed. However, these things all help keep him clean and comfortable. Paw balm can also be very helpful at this time of year.

Happy Holidays! All of us here at Marriottsville Animal Hospital, your local Ellicott City, MD animal clinic, wish you a wonderful holiday season.
